The Heritage Note

Crafted in the famed ceramicist village of Malicorne-sur-Sarthe, this magnificent white faïence cachepot bears the distinct "TE" signature of the legendary Émile Tessier. Tessier’s workshop is historically renowned for elevating traditional provincial earthenware into incredibly sophisticated, high-art forms, and this vessel is a breathtaking example of that legacy.

The upper half of the cachepot is defined by an intricate, hand-cut diamond lattice (known as ajouré openwork), which creates a beautiful play of light and shadow. Below the lattice, the base is softly fluted, drawing the eye down to a graceful foot rim. Architectural ring handles hang loosely from the scalloped edge, adding a wonderful textural and visual dynamic to the piece.

Measuring 21 centimeters in width and standing 17 centimeters tall, this heavily sculpted vessel possesses an undeniable presence. Whether anchoring a mantle, holding a tumbling indoor vine, or simply resting as a standalone sculptural work, it perfectly encapsulates the enduring prestige of French ceramic mastery.
